For Parents
It may seem like just yesterday when you were navigating adolescence. Remember the swift shifts in expectations at home and in school? Maybe you felt both excited and overwhelmed by the uncertainty of the future. Who did you lean on for strength and support on your path toward young adulthood?
No matter the generation, it’s true what they say: It takes a village to raise a child. But it’s also true that it takes a village to support that child’s family! If you’re feeling uncertain about how to best guide your teen, or you’re seeking some tools to facilitate better coping or communication, you’re not alone! At Footprints Forward, it is a privilege to collaborate and problem solve with caregivers through family sessions that ensure each individuals’ needs and concerns are addressed.
Anxiety and depression are the most prevalent diagnoses treated in my practice and I typically employ a CBT or DBT approach to treatment. Is your teen struggling to balance:
desiring more independence vs. needing continued guidance from parents
navigating increasing responsibilities vs. inexperience with “adulting”
developing more mature relationships with others vs. embracing individuality
school and work stress vs. the importance of a healthy social life
exciting new achievements vs. self esteem set-backs
If so, you’ve come to the right place! Bringing a wealth of professional and personal experience, I pride my practice on open communication with caregivers while maintaining client confidentiality. You are your child’s loudest cheerleader, strongest advocate, and most steady source of security! At the same time, it’s ok to seek some counsel along the way!
Please reach out if you have questions or feedback about your child as they bravely undertake treatment goals. I am also eager to share valuable community resources and additional referrals as needed!
